Hard drive wiping and data destruction, certified per drive.

NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 data sanitization with our in-house wipe process, a certificate of sanitization for every drive serial, and in-house physical destruction at the Clearwater shop for media that won’t wipe. No mobile shredding, no third party.

Pick what the drive can take.

Both end in a certificate tied to the drive. A healthy drive is wiped and can live again; media that can’t be wiped is destroyed.

Method · Wipe

In-house software wipe

Drives are sanitized with our in-house wipe process to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2. The drive stays usable, which is the right answer for healthy hardware going back into circulation.

Priced per drive · certificate included

A hard drive enters a shredder and metal fragments fall into a collection bin.
Method · Destroy

In-house physical destruction

Failed, damaged, or unreadable media that can’t be wiped is physically destroyed at the Clearwater shop. No mobile truck and no third-party partner.

Priced per drive · certificate included

One hard drive is linked to a certificate with a red seal.
Deliverable · Proof

A certificate per drive

Every drive that comes through gets a certificate of sanitization tied to its serial, whichever method it needed.

Included with every drive

The deliverable

Every drive gets this.

A certificate of sanitization for every drive, tied to its serial number and the method used: an in-house wipe to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2, or in-house physical destruction.

Each certificate records the asset serial, the drive serial, the method, the result, and the authorized technician. Documentation is prepared per serial at the shop and sent with your close-out. If your auditor needs the certificate in a particular format, tell us during scoping and we’ll say plainly whether we can provide it.

In-house destruction

When a drive won’t wipe.

Failed, damaged, or unreadable media can’t be sanitized in software, so it’s physically destroyed at the Clearwater shop. It never goes to a third party for destruction, and there’s no mobile shredding.

Scrap from destroyed media is demanufactured and recycled in-house with the rest of the non-resale material.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about drive wiping and destruction.

What’s the difference between a wipe and destruction?

An in-house wipe sanitizes the drive to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 and leaves it usable. Destruction is for media that can’t be wiped: the drive is physically destroyed in-house. Both get a certificate.

Do you shred drives on-site?

No. There’s no mobile shredding. Drives are wiped at the Clearwater shop, and media that can’t be wiped is destroyed there too.

Who does the destruction?

We do, in-house. Destruction isn’t sent to a third-party partner.

What do we get back?

A certificate of sanitization for every drive, prepared per serial at the shop. Tell us during scoping what else your auditor needs.

Is a wipe as secure as shredding?

For a healthy drive, yes: an in-house wipe to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 makes the data unrecoverable and leaves the drive reusable. Media that fails or can’t be wiped is physically destroyed in-house. Both get a certificate.

What is a certificate of sanitization?

A per-drive record, tied to the asset and drive serial, of the method used (an in-house wipe to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2, or physical destruction) and the result, issued by AndersonTech Solutions in Clearwater, FL. Documentation is prepared per serial at the shop.
